Accepting IDEA BLAST Applications: August 23 to September 10, 2009 (no later than 10AM)
Top 3 Finalists will receive:
- 1st place: $1,000
- 2nd place: $650
- 3rd place: $350
- Each finalist may receive specified space and defined resources at Muncie's premier business incubator
The IDEA BLAST Awards is presented by Ball State University Entrepreneurship and Innovation Connector
WHAT is the IDEA BLAST Awards Competition?
Ball State University Entrepreneurship and the Innovation Connector, Muncie's premier business incubator, are holding the IDEA BLAST competition to recognize the entrepreneurial spirit of the community and the university. Awards are presented to recognize exceptional community entrepreneurial spirit and creativity that exists among the population in our community and those enrolled in university and community college.
WHO is eligible?
Any current or potential resident of Central and East Central Indiana or Ball State University Alumni is eligible to enter.
Any faculty, staff, or student of Ball State University is eligible to enter.
Any faculty, staff, student of Ivy Tech Community College is eligible to enter.
Current IC Clients are eligible to submit NEW ideas only.
Winners from previous 2008-2009 years competitions at the Innovation Connector are prohibited from applying again.
WHAT are the IDEA BLAST application guidelines?
IDEA BLAST submissions must have a technology aspect for any idea submitted. Technology might include E-Commerce, software development, business process, product development, etc. No retail ideas are eligible.
HOW to apply?
Complete the digital application at www.theideablast.com by September 10, 2009.
HOW are winners selected?
Winners will be selected from two separate categories:
a) Communities - Ivy Tech and BS Alumni Division and
b) Ball State University Division
Evaluation criteria include:
entrepreneurial spirit,
potential success of business (financial, market share, etc.),
potential for idea commercialization success, and clarity of presentation.
WHEN are the awards conferred?
Awards are presented October 29 at the finale banquet to be held at Ball State University Alumni Center.
The ruling of the judges is final.
